George Tanner is a Manitoba visual artist. He is a Fine Arts graduate of the University of Manitoba and has completed many courses in computer gaphics at Red River College in Winnipeg.He has worked as a graphic artist and designer for various government agencies and in private industry. He was employed as a graphic designer with the Department of National Defence, Air Command Headquarters until 1997. Since then he has operated his own design firm. During his commercial career he has continuously maintained an active interest and participated in the field of fine arts.
He has had four one-person exhibitions of his work since 1988 and has participated in a number of groups shows. His paintings have won awards in the Winnipeg Sketch Club annual juried exhibitions of 1994, 1995 and 1998. An honorable mention selection was awarded to his painting for the Manitoba Agriculture touring art exhibition 1996. His work is in the permanent collections of the Air Command Historic Museum, Eaton Place, Great-West Life Assurance Co., Manitoba Fish Futures, Manitoba Hydro and Manitoba Government Services as well as many private collections.
